Haridwar in Uttranchal Pradesh of is a very holy and religious city for Hindus. At Haridwar Sacred River Ganges enters into the plains from Himalayas. Haridwar is well known for world famous kumbh mela or kumbh fair. Kumbh Mela is held at different places at different times.

The Maha Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years in one of the four pilgrim cities - Haridwar, Allahabad, Ujjian or Nasik. Millions of devotees ritually have a cleansing bath to wash their sins in the holy rivers on eleven auspicious days from the beginning of January to the end of April (we have listed auspicious dates below).

The Maha Kumbh Mela (Great Festival of Urn), takes place every after 12 years at one of the 4 religious cities (Haridwar, Allahabad, Ujjain and Nashik. This year Maha Kumbh fair is taking place at sacred town of Haridwar and is largest human gathering in history. Although very few people have heard about this in the Western Countries. Maha Kumbh Mela 2010 will have millions of pilgrims attending this religious festival between January 2010 and end April, 2010.
